Mother's day

 Thanks to  and Mecedes Delgado
for their ideas about Mothers' day! In Italy we celebrate Mother's day, the second Sunday  in May: on 8th May this year.

We talked about  the importance of mothers for the children and for the whole family.
We read poems in Italian and in English,

We created handscrafts:paper flowers and cards.

Moreover the students with the teacher of Religious Education talked about the Holy Mother : Maria.
We admired a very famous painting, exposed in Saronno for a short time.

It is a very famous painting because the teacher of  Federico Melzi, the painter, was Leonardo Da Vinci.

The Virgin of the Rocks (sometimes the Madonna of the Rocks) is the name used for two very similar  paintings by Leonardo : one is in The Louvre in Paris and the other in the National Gallery, London.

The  painting we saw, show Mary, the Holy Virgin and Child Jesus with the infant. John the Baptist and an angel, in a rocky setting which gives the painting the usual name.
After the visit, the children try to do simialr ones.

Art has no age !and chidren appreciated it a lot!
