LET S CREATE A GAME WITH MAGNETS

EXPLORE THE MATERIAL

HOW TO USE, MAKE, MANIPULATE OBJECTS.

AIMS:

-CREATE A GAME WITH MAGNETS: DOMINOES WITH COLOURS.

-USE A NOTICE OR AN ILLUSTRATED BUILDING FOLDER

-IMAGINE GAME RULES AND FOLLOW THEM.

-TEACH OTHERS HOW TO PLAY WITH THE GAME


KNOWLEDGES: KNOW MAGNETS PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: MATERIALS WHICH ARE ATTRACTED OR NOT. BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY MATERIALS ( METAL, IRON, ALUMINIUM, GLASS, FABRIC, PLASTIC AND WOOD)


STEP 1 :

WHAT IS A MAGNET?WHAT ARE ITS CHARACTERISTICS ?
PUPILS WALK THROUGH THE ROOM LOOKING FOR THINGS ATTRACTED OR NOT. THEY CAN NOTICE THAT ACCORDING TO THEIR POSITIONS, 2 MAGNETS CAN BE JOINED OR ON THE CONTRARY BE PUSHED AWAY.



STEP2:

SELECT OBJECTS ATTRACTED OR NOT BY MAGNETS, CLASSIFY.
SOME OBJECTS ARE DISPATCHED ON TABLES , PUPILS HAVE TO IDENTIFY AND STICK THE PICTURE OF THE OBJECTS AT THE RIGHT PLACE "ATTRACT" OR "DOES NOT ATTRACT". IS IT WOOD, PLASTIC, GLASS...



STEP3:

HOW TO FOLLOW A NOTICE TO CREATE MAGNETS FOR A GAME .
EACH CHILD HAS A CARD WHICH REFERS THE " CORK" HE HAS TO MAKE.
DOMINOES GET TOGETHER IF THEY HAVE THE SAME COLOUR AND OPPOSITE POLARITIES.



STEP 4:

THEY WRITE GAME RULES WITH A LIMITED TIME. THEY CALL THE GAME "LES DOMIS-AIMANTS". THEY ARE READY TO PLAY THEIR OWN GAME.


STEP 5:

PUPILS SHOW THEIR NEW GAME TO THE OTHER CLASS OF YEAR 4 AND 5 AND EXPLAIN HOW TO PLAY.








WATER, A PRECIOUS RESOURCE

DURING SEVERAL WEEKS, PUPILS AGED 9 AND 10 WORKED ON A PROJECT CALLED "WATER, A PRECIOUS RESOURCE".

THERE WERE 7 GROUPS OF 4 CHILDREN AND EACH GROUP WORKED ON A VERY PARTICULAR SUBJECT: FIGHT AGAINST WASTE/ THE WATER TREATMENT MANAGMENT/ THE WATER CYCLE/ DIFFERENCIES BETWEEN WATER ACCESS IN EUROPE AND IN AFRICA/

WHEN PUPILS WERE READY, THEY DECIDED TO SHOW THEIR WORK TO OTHER CLASSES. THEY ENDED THEIR PRESENTATION WITH A LITTLE QUIZZ FOR THEIR CLASSMATES.







ELECTRICITY

WITH PUPILS AGED 8 AND 9 WE WORKED ON INVESTIGATION TO TRY TO ANSWER THE QUESTION : "HOW TO KNOW WHAT MATERIALS DRIVE ELECTRICITY?"

WE MADE ASSUMPTIONS: WE DID AN EXPERIENCE TO VALIDATE OR NOT OUR ASSUMPTIONS.

WE DID RESEARCHES AND GAMES TO KNOW HOW TO PREVENT FROM THE DANGERS OF ELECTRICITY.

WE SHARED OUR GAMES WITH YOUGER PUPILS AGED 6 AND 7 WHO WERE VERY HAPPY TO PLAY AND MANIPULATE.











EXPERIENCE ON VOLCANOES

WITH THE 7 AND 8 YEARS PUPILS , WE VISTED "VULCANIA" AN AMUSEMENT PARK DEDICATED TO VOLCANOES.

WE COULD EXPERIMENT 2 DIFFERENT KINDS OF VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS : EFFUSIVE AND EXPLOSIVE .

WE SAW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A VOLCANO WITH A DOME SHAPE AND A VOLCANO WITH A CONE SHAPE

ACTING FOR PUPILS AGED 10

ON THE 6th OF JUNE , PUPILS AGED 10 WERE ACTING N A THEATER IN CLERMONT FERRAND CALLED "LA PETITE GAILLARDE" A PLAY FROM MOLIÈRE " LE MALADE IMAGINAIRE".


ALL YEAR LONG, THEY WORKED ON THEIR VOICE, THE TEXT, THE DIRECTION.
THEY COULD SHOW THEIR PROJECT WITH A LOT OF ENTHOUSIASM AND EMOTIONS TO THEIR FAMILIES.

THANKS TO THIS PROJECT "CORPS EN SCÈNE" THEY COULD ACT WITH THE HELP OF MR GUY COULANJON, ACTOR AND DIRECTOR FOR AN ASSOCIATION CALLED " LEE VOIRIEN".

A VERY NICE JOB WHICH ALLOWED CHILDREN TO SHOW THEMSELVES ON STAGE .

Van Gogh

We worked on an artistic project about the painting of VAN GOGH named
"La chambre de Van gogh a Arles".

The class was divided INTO 2 groups: those WHO worked on the draw and the others WHO worked on the model.

For that job, we used painting, markers, chalks, small objects, cardboards, shoes boxes, legos .

Thanks to this project, we could work on geometry, shapes, colours descriptions and fauvism.

We displayed our works in the hall of our School.

Europe Day

All classes of our school joined themselves in the middle of the playground to celebrate the european day.
Young and older pupils realized a big sign about a member of the european union.
Dressed with a bue TEE shirt on which IT was written "bonjour " in all different languages , they marched to stand around the european flag.
A very deep moment full of symbol.

CODED BOOK WITH LEGOS

CHILDREN AGED 6 and 7 REALIZED A CODED BOOK WITH LEGOS FROM THE STORY "THE 3 LITTLE CATS" WHICH IS AN ALBUM WITHOUT ANY TEXT.

EACH PAIR OF PUPILS CREATED ONE OF THE PAGES IN LEGO THEN WROTE A NARRATIVE TEXT FROM HIS PAGE
.

THEN, THIS CODED ALBUM WAS PRESENTED AND READ TO OTHER CLASSES OF OUR SCHOOL.










WRITING A STORY USING LEGOS

Based on a writing project, 5 and 6 years old pupils worked by pairs to create a "short book".

First, they realised freely a set using legos, and, from this representation, they invented a story written by the teacher.

The following courses , they went on with their stories still using legos and telling their teacher how they wanted to end the story.

The project ended with a collaborative search to find titles for all the STORIES and a realisation of covers for their books.

Pupils were very proud of their work that they could bring home.

Geometry, you mean geometry ?

BEFORE working on the perpendicular and parallel lines on paper and with pens, pupils started to work with legos. First, they used plates and pins and then they used their ruler, set square and the famous little bricks.










At the beginning of the course and to check their knowledge about perpendicular and parallel lines, they had to answer a quizz on the apply plickers which offered the possibility to see the proportion of good answers in the class.



Then, to train, they could do short exercices on pads with the apply evernote.

To finish, to explain to other pupils how to draw parallel and perpendicular lines, they realized tutorials.
