Reading workshop

To improve their reading, pupils work with the menu DECLIC :
D for déchiffrage (decoding)
E for enrichir (increasing ones vocabulary)
C for comprendre (understanding)
L for lire avec fluidité (read fluently)
I for intégrer (integrate rules of workshop)
C for culture (literary culture)

During the year, pupils work on different topics with short lessons and most of all they read books that they choose by themselves.

During the reading times , they go on a special place called " book nook" (under a table, on a chair, or in laundry baskets) where they feel good.

They also participate to workshops LINKED with DÉCLIC MENU.

For exemple :
In the decoding workshop : IT is reading of syllables in a delimitated time

In the vocabulary workshop: IT is choosing the signification of one word in a context

In the understanding workshop: IT is listening to a short story and PUT in order sequential images.

In the reading workshop: IT is reading a book and listening to IT at the same time.

In the literary culture workshop : IT is recognizing the sort of book by its front cover.

At the same time , pupils participate to book clubs on the same book, in groups they analyse the book that they read in class in different ways:
The aloud reading, the WRITING, the vocabulary , the MEANING of the text and the will of the author...

The interest of this reading workshop is to MAKE pupils improve their reading and , above all, to make them love reading

Little Red Riding Hood

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

PRIMARY SCHOOL "IGNOTO MILITI"

CLASSROOMS V A and B

SARONNO - ITALY

We have listened the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale in English.

We have identified the main story's characters...

... and now we're building them...

...and story's places with Lego and Playmobil blocks.

We're enjoying and we're working with our friends in groups.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Little Red Riding Hood lives in a wood with her mother.

She has a nice cake, an apple, three oranges, a jar of honey and some biscuits in her basket.

Mummy says to Little Red Riding Hood: "Don't stop on the way!"
She answers she is a good girl and says "Goodbye" to her mum.

On her way Little Red Riding Hood meets a wolf.

-"Hello Little Red Riding Hood!" says the wolf.
-"My name is Mr Wolf. Where are you going?"
She answers she's going to her grandmother. She lives in a house near the wood.

The wolf wants to go to Granny's house because he's hungry. He likes apples, oranges, honey, biscuits and cake.

The wolf runs to Granny's house and knocks at the door.
-"Oh my back, my legs, my arms, my head... I'm tired, I'm old.
Is that you Little Red Riding Hood?"

-"Yes, Granny...Can I come in?"

-"Yes, come in, come in, my child".

The wolf comes in and eats Granny's up.
He wears Granny's glasses, shawl and night-cup.
He gets into Granny's bed.

Later Little Red Riding Hood arrives at the Granny's house and she comes in.
She looks at her grandmother but she notices her big eyes, big ears, a big nose and big teeth.

The wolf tries to eat Little red Riding Hood.

She cries loud.

A woodcutter is in the wood.

He hears the loud scream and runs to the Granny's house.

The woodcutter hits the wolf over his head.
The wolf opens his mouth wide and shouts so loud as Granny's jumps out.

The wolf runs away and Little Red Riding Hood never saw the wolf again.

THE END
