Learning multiplication and division through LEGO
Our pupils in year two getting to know the multiplication and divsion. At the first lessons we used a lot of examples and exercises with LEGO. So they understood the new kind of operation with numbers very quickly.

We counted the bricks and the number of pimples of one brick - and multiplicated. So we knew the number of all pimples. |

To understand the splitting with the division we splitted some numbers of Lego Bricks. The children should imagine to shaie their 20 bricks with 1 friend, 3 friends ... Afterwards we build the division task.

Maths in class 1
The children of class 1 in Primary school I.Militi, Saronno, learnt to count with lego bricks.
They have lego lab every Thursday afternoon.

Math year 1
We are working in math in year one with Lego into the number space between 0 and 20. At first we doubled/ reflected with the mirror and counted.
Later on we use the Lego bricks to visualize the steps: to count to ten at first and than add the rest of the summand.
