There are six people next to the road.

My second grade students have written sentences using the vocabulary they have learned throughout the unit. We have used LEGO STORY STARTER so that they could represent the reality described in the sentence, making the activity completely contextualized and significant for the students. It was a perfect match, as they were using the structure "THERE IS/THERE ARE.." and PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE
In the pictures you can see the wonderful results... It was not only writing "THERE ARE six people NEXT TO the road," but also building that sentence in a literal way...

Working With Europass

Great command of foreing languages these days has become a necessity. That is why it is good to be aware of the level of language we have.
We decided to teach our students how to self-assess what they already know about a foreign language. They willingly read about different aspects of languages and cultures. Now they have their own Language Passports where they can write about every cultural experience they witness.

Irish leprechauns in our school

The children listened to the story of the leprechaun, who has hidden his pot of gold behind the rainbow. The teacher showed pictures to the children. We listened to a song about the story. Each child could make his own leprechaun and they've made a profile about him. Then they told about their leprechaun. They learned about Ireland an filled in some facts at home.
The played a story about finding the gold because Emerald had lost his pot of gold. To say Thank you to all the nice and helpful leprechauns Emerald invited them to his St. Patricks celebration party. The children made lots of decoration stuff and Emerald gave some gold out of his pot.
The children enjoyed and learned a lot about Ireland and the traditions.
I hope it's a good idea for you to celebrate St. Patricks Day on the 17th of March.

The mummy

During the study of Egyptian civilization class 4th B has seen a brief history of cartoons in the pyramids. It is in English. At the multimedia board have been proposed various activities aimed at understanding, learning specific vocabulary (CLIL), oral production and play.

To encourage the use of English kids recited and interpreted the story.
Pupils have divided the story in sequence, designed and wrote the synthesis.
Finally in groups every part has been creatively made with Lego bricks.

This was the end result and in turns each child took part in the scene.

That's very funny this history!

Animals and their livingplace

After the idea of this blog, we tried to build the places, where animals live. We used the "Story Starter". The children had a lot of ideas, what is necessary for the animals and what is given by the humans.
Afterwards we translated the names into Englisch and French and labeled all the necessary things. Quite a lot fun. Thanks Maide.
