Christmas carols in the church

Janine and Christiane have been practising a lot with our children in the choir "Kästner Kids" for the special Christmas concert in our church next to. They were singing Christmas carols from different European countries. Before the concert they could take a recording on a CD. The choir gave the concert on Monday in the afternoon for the parents and today for all other pupils and teachers. It was a great success! I often listen to the CD in my car. I'm always excited. The children are good singers and very proud on themselves.

Christmas arts and crafts

In the fourth class we prepared an Advent calendar using plastic cups. Every day pupils open one glass and discover sweet surprises.

But the most important things is the little paper that there is inside it: a good purpose to be done in class.
For example:

  • I apologize if I'm wrong;
  • I give something of mine to those who need it;
  • I play with all children;
  • I do not stay with angry heart
  • and many more ....
Then students realize cards, poems and Christmas objects for their families.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Confectionery workshops

Just before Chtistmas, grade 3 took part in a mini confectionery workshop. We took the chance and tried to start the celebrations a few days before, so that the whole school would smell like Christmas. Gingerbread smell was all around.

The objective was to decorate the little shapes in the most beautiful way possible. Instead of using crayons or paints, this time we used frosting, chocolate, icing sugar and many more.

That's how we created out little confectionery works of art.

Stories from our holidays

The first day back to school from our Christmas holidays is always a day when pupils come with lots of things to tell their classmates and teachers. They want to talk about the presents they got, about the places they have travelled to, or about any other anecdote that happened to them.

I decided to take advantage of this and we worked with BuildTo Express set. The only instruction I told them was to build a scene to show a good moment of their holidays. Then, they explained it in groups so we worked the oral expression and also respect the others' feelings and emotions. Here you have the result. Most of the models showed the christmas decoration, family gatherings, relaxing moments playing with their brothers or sisters...

 In these models above, you can see some families watching the New Year's Eve clock and eating the 12 grapes as we tradittionally do every year.
