The children are used to draw different circles with the technical support of a circle. What about big circles in our surrounding, in the nature? The kids have taken a piece of rope, some chalk and a different stuff for the axis. So they discovered this very hard job on the schools ground.
Employing LEGO bricks and Schleich animals to teach and learn about animals and their habitat is such a great idea, thank you Joanna, that therefore I'm doing the same with my Primary 2 class today. It goes without saying that we are celebrating the Earth Day today.
For a start we are watching the BBC documentary "Planet Earth" trailer so as to make ourselves aware of the the rich variety of habitats in our planet.
After that we are surfing the Internet to learn more about habitats. A group of my students has just found a great Website!
With such wonderful pics it is easy peasy to elicit the concept of habitat from my students.
Now my students know that a habitat is the type of environment in which plant and animals live it is high time we learnt that an habitat is dictated by what kinds of plants grow there, the climate and the geography. This video and The Habitat song are being of great help.

At the end of the morning everyone is enjoying building habitats and searching animals who are able to live in them.
Today we have dealt with animals. We have built animal habitat from Lego and put Schleich figures in the right environment: on the farm or in the jungle. We have also named and talked about those animals.
We also made habitats for one chosen animal and revised body parts because this is the topic of our unit.

Following my friend's advice I made it more interesting to my students. Instead of normal counters we used Lego Education Figures. They found it really cool!
On April, the 14th all teachers of our school took part at the LEGO - further training. We chose one 5-hours-afternoon training to get in touch with MoreToMath, StoryStarter and WeDo. In the typical LEGO Education way "Learning by making" we all tried to create and construct and we enjoyed it. Mr Martin Engels has shown to all teachers the possibilities of different ways to get the solutions of learning tasks according to the curriculum. Now we have to discuss the next steps in learning with LEGO at our school.

Our choir took part in a very prestigious choral competition recently. They were excellent! We were so proud of them all. They also enjoyed listening to the ' spine tingling ' performance of the Morriston Rugby Club Male Voice Choir. Cymru am byth!
