Open Day

Once we opened our Lego Centre, we wanted to share the joy of using Lego, Playmobil and Schleich in the learning-teaching process.

We invited people from our city, neighbourhood and future students to visit us and experience the pleasure of playing and learning. Everybody enjoyed, no matter the age, since there is no need to convince anyone to play with blocks.

Everybody was amused, excited and exhausted, willing to pay a visit in our cafe to treat himself with some delicious cake:

Mathematical Mikado

First, each student has  invented four easy additions and we have written them on white popsicle sticks.

Second, each student has invented a bit more difficult additions and we have written them on green popsicle sticks. 

Them, we played MIKADO: you pick up a stick and say the result. If the result is correct, you keep the stick. At the end of the game, you get two points for each green stick and one point for each white stick you have. 

When we do not agree on the result, we check it using the calculator. 

Water day at school

Water day was on Sunday, 22nd March, we worked on it today, but it is always an actual and important topic. Students after a brainstorming activity about WATER and a group discussion ,became poets:

If I were water I...

They wrote in a drop their poems, original works, indeed!!!

Then they read their poems to the class and add a drawing

It was really a good work!

 The result was a wonderful path: all the other classes looked at it!

Opening Lego Centre

21 March was not only the first day of Spring, but also the day when we opened our Lego Centre in Białystok.

Our special guest was Paweł Kmieć, a very well known Lego constructor who presented his work and passion. You can see some of his ideas in the following movie:

We equipped our class with lots of blocks for fun and education and this is how it looks now:

 We also gave this centre a name with a special banner to state it:

All the guests and visitors were very impressed and happy to be there that very special day:)

Different artists

Our school hosted last week a special painting exhibition.
Artists are people with different abilities.

Children liked the pictures and appreciated artists' efforts.

Noah's ark

The week of inclusion

This week in our school each class organised different activities focused on inclusion: each child, each person is different and this is to be considered a richness for the comunity.

Children saw films, read books, listened to stories: different activities to reflect.

We chose a book about Noah's ark.

On the ark the animals were arguing because of the tiny space they had

The animals from all the world had different habits and needs.

  

It was a happy ending story: all the animals learn to live peacefully  together.

A  sloth suggested them the solution: look things not only from your point of view but form others' and try to consider differences as a quality not a problem.

The world is beautiful because each human being is unique and different

When a Monster Is Born

When a monster is born, there are two possibilities—

Either it’s a faraway-in-the-forests monster, or . . .

it’s an under-your-bed monster.

If it’s a faraway-in-the-forests monster, that’s that.

But if it’s an under-your-bed monster, all sorts of comical things can happen.

Read it at bedtime and laugh your pajamas off . . .

or read it during the day and laugh your socks off!

Absolutely loved the book! Highly recommended. It was very fun to read, and constantly kept your interest. I loved how it gave you two choices, and then furthered on just one of them. And most of the time, they chose the option I thought they wouldn't! It lets you dig deeper into the book, and gives a lot of "what ifs". A great children's book, and a great way to introduce choices along with consequences.
