Science Fair in ZSS3

On the 30th April we organized "Science Fair" in our school. As we wanted it to be as much fun for the kids as possible, we got our middle school involved. They played teachers and tried to explain to the younger ones some rules concerning the world surrounding us. Children really loved the idea of being taught by their older friends and benefited from it a lot. They watched how simple everyday things were used to create something new and inspirational. Now we all know how to prepare our own little volcano at home, and that cabbage and tea are also things we can use to different experiments.

1st experiment

Prepare 3 test tubes with water, vinegar and soda. Add some red cabbage brew or black tea brew into the test tubes with different substances.

2nd experiment

Pour some milk, add colours and drop of liquid soap.

3rd experiment

Prepare one bowl with water and add pepper.

4th experiment

Prepare flask with vinegar and add soda (one spoon).

5th experiment

Add some vinegar to an egg white.

Children and our TEACHERS:) were very excited looking and taking part in the experiments!!!!!!!!!!

Years 1 and 2 creating bird homes in our woodlands.

Great team work and organisational skills were at work when the children created bird homes in groups.  The finished results were amazing!

Observing bugs and butterflies in Years one and two

The children have loved looking closely at bugs and butterflies. It was amazing how much detail they included in their drawings.

Pinocchio

As part of our 'Italian' themed activities we went on a Pinocchio story hunt.  The children enjoyed the original story by Carlo Collodi.  The children had to find clues about the Pinocchio in order to retell the story using the items collected in their buckets.

The children were very excited and were able to recall the story using key events in the story of Pinocchio.

Getting creative with peacock feathers in years 1 and 2

The children have used a variety of techniques to create art work linked to peacocks.  They watched films of peacocks and looked at real peacock feathers to give them inspiration. The children were delighted with their creations.

They used a computer package to design tile images of peacock feathers using the 'Textease studio' package.

Creating With Lego.

In our After School Club, we have been using our new Lego to create European landmarks.

La Capella Sistina

Early years made their very own Sistine Chapel.  Nursery and reception worked in pairs to create potraits of their friends, we then put our potraits on the ceiling in our early years classroom :-) We learned all about Roma and Michelangelo.   

Keystage 2 Animation

Year 5/6 are starting their Lego animation by using storyboards to plan their stories.
