Our kids learn about the geography of their own county Thuringia. They collected a lot of information about the sights and habits. They read books and look into maps and tell about their own experiences in travelling around Thuringia. So they created store windows to present some towns in a very special way. They framed the pictures or did a kind of 3-D-layout. There are some examples of the results.

In our classroom (aged 5 to 6), we worked on differences through the book

"Quatre petits coins de rien du tout". 

We highlighted the fact that we are all different. And so? Does it matter anyway?

We must accept each other because in fact we all have many things in common: kids at school who like playing and learning all together.

With this idea on our minds we created our Playmobil portraits; all similar but different at the same time.

We painted with watercolours our hair, face and T-shirt.

Then we stuck our eyes and mouth from a photo that our teacher had taken before. Here you have the result.

10th anniversarie eTwinning

Today it's an important date for etwinners, it is its 10th anniversary:

Etwinning and its website, with all the tools and project kits, help teachers to be in contact with other teachers form Europe. It helps us to be up to date and to develop professionally with events such as webinars, courses...

Using eTwinning is a great opportunity for schools, teachers and pupils to be in contact with the rest of Europe and to enrich our lessons.

Our Erasmus  group was born on the eTwinning website and it is an eTwinning project too.

Dissemination at the university

My colleague Agnieszka Zarachowicz and I went twice to the University of Bialystok to present our Erasmus+ project to the group of 120 future teachers and councellors.

Firstly, we explained to them what an Erasmus+ project was and how we got involved in the project. We also told them about the other five European schools involved in the project.

Then, we showed them this Blog and some posts as examples of sharing good practices.

We also explained them the goals and positive aspects of using Lego blocks in education.

The next step was the hands on experience. We wanted to show them how to use Lego Education blocks in different subjects.

To teach a language (this time Polish) we read them a piece of the story "Fluffy and Soft" and asked them to finish it using narratives divided into 3 parts.

For science we chose turtles and their habitat.

In the mathematical exercise they had to compete in the game of showing the largest number of pins.

For Social studies they dealt with the problem of being a handicapped and moving in a wheelchair.

Constructing and measuring was also one of the exercises. Building the tallest tower and measuring it with anything they can come up with was one of the tasks.

Back to back was one of the activities the sudents also really enjoyed.

And their professor liked the tasks as well.

At the end we showed them the possibilities the LEGO software offers.

 

Everyone was content and saw the advantages of using Lego in the classroom.

They want us to come back next year.

Creative Curriculum Conference Cardifff

On Tuesday 28th April we took a group of children from year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 to St.David's Hall Cardiff, to a Creative Curriculum Conference. The purpose of the visit was to present a creative workshop that would demonstrate our creative 'Leonardo Effect' curriculum to delegates from the Art Council of Wales, story tellers, Welsh Assembly government curriculum working party and many more.

The children were engaged in literacy, numeracy and art activities that required cross curricular skills as well as creativity and the power of their imagination. The Leonardo Effect, which is embedded within our school ethos and provision, integrates science and art and allows children to learn through experiential, creative, skill based learning.

EXPO 2015 in Milan

                 Milan is the host-city for the Universal Exposition,

May 1st 2015 is the opening day! I's a great event and occasion for our city!

                         Italy chose Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life as its central theme.

 Expo Milano 2015  addresses the problem of nutrition: promoting quality food and ensuring food security and safety and environmental sustainability. this is the core theme of Expo Milano 2015.

While the Expo will undoubtedly be an occasion for international collaboration on global food topics, it will also, with its 20 million expected visitors on site and millions of online visitors, be a platform to reach out to European and international citizens, thereby promoting a positive understanding of respect and help for the whole world.

The children of Collodi Kindergarten are working on healthy food meanwhile playing with Foody and creating other fruit faces.

Class 5th of Primary School Rodari, Saronno,decided to invite our friends from Europe (Erasmus+ school partners) and from all over the world to our EXPO Party!
