The mummy

During the study of Egyptian civilization class 4th B has seen a brief history of cartoons in the pyramids. It is in English. At the multimedia board have been proposed various activities aimed at understanding, learning specific vocabulary (CLIL), oral production and play.

To encourage the use of English kids recited and interpreted the story.
Pupils have divided the story in sequence, designed and wrote the synthesis.
Finally in groups every part has been creatively made with Lego bricks.

This was the end result and in turns each child took part in the scene.

That's very funny this history!

The little prince reveals a secret

Today in the fourth class it was concluded the work dedicated to the Little Prince talking about the true meaning of friendship.
The teacher has proposed the activity entitled "about the thread."
The students form a circle to prepare the "friendship network."
With this game they will observe the number of interactions that are created within the class group; each component joins the other with a colored woolen thread.
You create a network that represents the bonds of friendship and relationships that can keep you in the group.
This game allows students to ask yourself some important questions:
How many directions can take our communication?
Is it easy or difficult to keep the threads of friendship?
When the wire is weakened or become more resistant? ?
If a thread breaks, can you retrofit it?

The Little Prince has made students more conscious of their ties understanding that the wires are all intact, but are a bit delicate; luckily you can make knots to fix them and to make them more resistant .
Your web around is the symbol and means that no one should be excluded from friendships with everyone else because for each of us is helpful to the other and needs the other.

Italian-Polish cooperation

We are very glad to welcome our guest from Italy - Ombretta Tambini. She is a student from Montessori School who is writing her dissertation about English teaching methods in our school. She is visiting classes, learning about CLIL, Lego, Dalton Method and others. Sometimes she is also taking part in the lessons.

Welcome and have a fruitful staying:)

CLIL&Lego

This year we have started teaching with Lego on regular basis. Our students of second and third grade have Lego lessons every week where they learn maths, science social skills, storytelling and all sorts of new skills through Lego and English. Here is a short film from some lessons:

Father's Day.

It is already tradition that the mothers of first grade pupils carry out  an arts and crafts workshop to make a gift for Father's Day.  Beautiful day!

Model of teeth

I have used Lego Duplo to create models of teeth in a mouth.
The studends of the 1st grade used them in pairs to practice, how to brush the teeth correctly. In german it´s called "KAI-Methode". One brushed the duplo teeth and the other was the dentist and checked each steep on a checklist.

The little prince is in Saronno

The students of class 4°B met the Little Prince during the week dedicated to integration and diversity. The teacher presented the story through the vision of the film and to follow a reported debate caught meanings.

The guys showed a lot of interesting aspects to the diversity of people, the friendship, the value of small things, the comparison between adults and children.
In particular, it deepens the knowledge of the little prince and some characters like the king, the conceited man, the tippler and of course the fox.

In groups pupils compose poems, drawings, texts to express the emotions aroused by reading a few chapters of the book.

Finally the class is ready for the final job: to build with Lego bricks a final work in which the little prince and his friends tell of them.

The week of inclusion and integration

During this past week we have been celebrating the WEEK OF INCLUSION AND INTEGRATION.
The aim of this project is to highlight the importance of having different culture and different habits with the ultimate goal of including everyone in the school.

It is crucial to have children understanding such an important message since they are 3, 4 and 5 years-old.
We took inspiration from a book by Sepulveda about the slowness of the snail. We invited a group of disabled guys.

They told us about their morning habits and their way to act like a snail. Each class donated them a snail colored as the correspondent classroom.

Some teenager guys from high-school came and showed us musical instruments and played relaxed and calm music with Celtic harps.

We tried to build up several musical instruments with low quality materials in order to play a concert all together on the note of the song: Elizabeth, the snail!

Paper dishes were transformed in castanets, cans in drums and glasses in maraca.

We spent the whole week studying and learning about the meaning of words INCLUSION and INTEGRATION, we have been helped by several books and videos!

INCLUSION... EVERYONE IS WELCOME
