LITERATURE FAIR IN SAINTE THERESE SCHOOL

The literature fair lasted one week.

All pupils from nursery to Primary School were divided in different places to listen to a tale read by a teacher or a volunteer.

Like we did last year, some classes went visiting an exhibition of visual arts based on youth literature books in cooperation with schools of our city.

My pupils found a way to move water inverted upside down.
The children worked in groups and selected the two winning teams .

We know what we like:

Literature Fair

The 11th of May was a very special day at our school  because we were celebrating The Literature Fair.  Some students prepared  guessing games based on popular tales like Pinocchio, Cinderella, Puss in Boots, Snow White, Red Riding Hood etc. The youngest  pupils tried to recognize and guess the tales. The students of the middle school put on a play The Cracow Dragon which was based on a very popular Polish legend. Everybody had fun.

Circle art goes from Bialystok to Gera

When we visited our partner school ZSS3 in Bialystok, we enjoyed the small pictures made out of different circles. They are on the wall in the hall. We published them in our schools newspaper "Kästner- Blitz". We wanted to show them to the pupils. We suggest to make their own pictures maybe during the long holidays starting on the 25th of June.
Thank you Poland!

Confectionery workshop

A few days ago kids from our school took part in a confectionery workshop organized by the local pastry shop “Sweet Lady”. They decorated muffins and made angry bird cakes. Everything was sweet, colourful and very delicious.  We are looking forward to participating in lollipop workshop in September.

Love in The Jeans Department

On 31st June The Bear Educational Theatre, a theatre which supports English teaching by producing interactive educational  performances and workshops, visited our city. The primary school pupils – grades 4, 5 and 6 had an opportunity to see “Love in the Jeans Department -  an interactive story which helps young learners of English learn and practice basic grammar and vocabulary. The story is about two teenage girls, Jo and Sam, who are best friends. Their friendship becomes complicated when Sam falls in love with a boy who sells her some jeans, and Jo becomes jealous. The teaching side of the show concerns functional language connected with shopping and making offers.
Our students enjoyed the shows very much. They especially liked the possibility to hear native speakers as well as the chance to take an active part in the show.

Great artist: Friedensreich Hundertwasser

Our children learned about this artist. They had a look of his patterns like eyes, bands, spirales, drops and onion towers. Hunderwasser told us "Every raindrop is like a kiss from the sky."
I taught the children about "the right of the own window". Hundertwasser said that each human should have the right to create the surrounding around his own window. Our children did it in the way you can see.

Me, myself and my "emotions"

Children choose feeling they want to play with

Children cut their own characters

Some resulting works...

I am Mathias: I am angry because I lost my ball in the woods

I am Elisa: I'm happy because spring has arrived

I am Federico: I'm happy to play football and table tennis

I am Gabriel: I'm scared because I see ghosts and spiders in the cave
