The Sword of Pendragon

THE SWORD OF PENDRAGON
FIRST EPISODE
Primary School “Ignoto Militi”
Saronno - Italy

King Magnus is in the castle

He is sad because people have no food.

The dragon is outside the castle.

King Magnus and Wizard Lucian are talking about what can they do.

At the castle there is Princess Miranda, too. She looks at a picture and she inquires after it.
Twelve years ago the dragon kidnapped the king's son. She is very sad about the prince.

Princess Miranda can hear the king and his wizard; they read there is a magic sword in the North of England: the Sword of Pendragon.

But there is a problem: only the hands of the  King's son can pull out the Sword of Pendragon.
Miranda can get the Sword.

That night she leaves the castle.

To be continued...

Jumping jacks

With this activity I tried to give traditional tasks in the English classroom (physical descriptions, daily routines, etc.) a little creative twist. My 7-year students had to create parts of the (not necessarily!!) human body. Once faced with 6 heads, 6 bodies, 6 sets of legs and arms, in teams of 4 or 5 they assembled all the parts and created little “Frankensteins” (see the pictures below) in the form of jumping jacks.

Then the teams completed little cards about their jumping jack and invented a life for him/her (see the worksheet below).

Each member of the team was then assigned one of the cards to create a written composition about their jumping jack. Finally, the groups made an oral presentation about their creature to the rest of the class.

I guess it is not necessary to mention, that I was quite in awe of the amazing, funny and witty presentations. This activity showed me, yet again, the wonders creativity works in a classroom. I hope you like it!

Discovering Human Body

DISCOVERING HUMAN BODY
I observe – test - learn

The “Ignoto Militi” Primary School’s students (classes V A and V B) begin a journey to discover human body.

The students create the smallest part of the human body: the CELL; they observe it and how nutriments pass through the cell membrane.

A plastic bag contains water and flour; a jar contains tincture of iodine diluted in water

The plastic bag behaves as a cell membrane: only the smallest molecules can pass through it.

The journey continues…DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
